In
2010 BirMAH Outreach is
working with
three Service
providers
- St Basils',
ANAWIM and
SSAFA - to
provide free
treatment
in monthly
clinics for
vulnerable
families
and individuals.
Two residential
clinics will run
at St Basils'
and SSAFA,
Norton House
and two monthly
drop-in clinics
will run with
ANAWIM at
Balsall Heath
and Handsworth.

Speedwell
Clinic at
ANAWIM, Balsall
Heath and
Handsworth
ANAWIM
runs two
one-stop
shop centres
for women
who are or
have been
involved
in the Criminal
Justice System,
having suffered
a long history
of abuse
and trauma
in their
lives - often
from childhood
onwards.
The
Centres offer
specified
activities
as an alternative
for women
offenders
as part of
a Community
Order.
Our
clinics aim
to support
their emotional
health by
addressing
grief, shock,
abandonment
or major
life changes
which if
left uncorrected
can lead
to exhaustion
and ill health.

Speedwell
Clinic at
St Basils’ Trentham
House
Since
October
2006, current
work with
St Basils’ continues
at a supported
single mother
and baby
residential
unit, which
is a spring
board towards
independant
living.
Our
aim is to
help mothers
to regain
self esteem
and confidence
and to promote
recovery
after childbirth.
Feedback
from Key
workers and
Health Visitors
has been
very positive,
especially
for post-natal ‘blues’ and
mental exhaustion.
Remedies
work on the
mental, emotional
and physical
levels -
to resolve
and release
trauma and
thereby regain
optimal health.
----------------------------------------
Norton House
Clinic
SSAFA/Norton
House provides
short stay
accomodation
to enable
families
to be close
to their
loved ones
whilst they
are being
treated at
The Royal
College for
Defence Medicine
at Selly
Oak Hospital.
We
provide support
for residents
- at what
is a difficult
and emotionally
challenging
time - who
may suffer
from problems
such as sleep
disruption
and anxiety.
Certain
remedies
can be used ‘at
home’ to
promote recovery.
----------------------------------------
Since
2006 we have
treated many
people from 0
- 50+ years
and feedback
has been
very positive.
All of our
6-month 'pilot'
clinics have
been extended and
we remain
committed
to working within the
community.
Student practitioners
are welcomed
to gain practical
experience in
many ways: from
helping with
fundraising
activities
to 'sitting-in
practice,
where appropriate.
CRB checks
are carried
out for everyone
working with
BirMAH and
practitioners
provide their
own Insurance
and Public
Liability.
